BUILDING THE NTFA BOARD OF DIRECTORS: ENHANCING THE ATHLETE + COACH EXPERIENCE

Building the board of directors for the National Track and Field Association (NTFA) has been one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences in my career. Our recent call with the first board member was a pivotal moment, shedding light on the immense potential we have to shape the future of track and field in California.

This board member brings an impressive wealth of experience to the table. With many years of coaching and competing at the highest levels, he has been instrumental in the success of numerous sprinters journey. His deep understanding of the sport and his commitment to enhancing the athlete and coach experience are truly inspiring.

From our conversation, it became clear that our mission at NTFA aligns perfectly with his vision. He is deeply invested in transforming track and field into a more productive and supportive environment for everyone involved. His emphasis on the athlete and coach experience underscores a crucial aspect of our strategy: improving how athletes and coaches are treated in the sport will lead to better overall performance and satisfaction.

One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned from this board member is the importance of focusing on the holistic development of athletes. By creating a more structured and supportive environment, we can provide youth athletes with something to look forward to—opportunities for skill development and a clear path to success. This not only helps in nurturing their athletic abilities but also inspires them to stay committed to the sport and away from a path of destruction.

Our approach will be multi-faceted. We plan to implement programs that enhance training experiences, support coaches in their development, and create pathways for youth athletes to thrive. By integrating these elements, we aim to build a stronger, more vibrant track and field community that can produce champions on and off the track.

As we continue to assemble our board and move forward with NTFA’s initiatives, I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. With leaders like this board member, who are passionate about transforming track and field into a sport that truly benefits its participants, I am confident that we can make a lasting impact on the future of athletics.
